Tasmania has a landmass of 6,852,000 hectares of which approximately 3,440,197 hectares is covered by forest (50.21%).  The forest estate can be broadly split into two categories – native forest and plantation forest.
Tasmania’s total native forest estate totals 3,116,000 hectares and the plantation estate 368,132 hectares.
